The Corry Family

More musings from Little David.....
David never ceases to amaze me! He can often be my absolute clone (just ask my Mom- she finds it rather amusing to hear me struggle with him and often reminds me that I am raising myself) but at times, he is sooo his Daddy. We often laugh over how he is already a born salesman- I can't tell you how often he says, "Ok Mom, let's make a deal." This evening one of my friends came up to me at the gym and was smiling and shaking her head. I immediately assume there's trouble in the gym daycare and ask her if the kids are ok. She laughs and says, "Oh, everything is fine. I'm just laughing at how much you have your hands full with that David. He is so smart and always saying the funniest things." David apparently went into an entire discussion with her about how he is saving up his money for a train table and a train track. He received a gift card from Mana and Papa for Christmas and still won't spend it- even though he's had ample opportunity. He keeps reiterating to me that he is saving it for something BIG, like a train track and table. So, he is explaining this to my friend at the gym and then he pauses, looks up at her and says, "I know what I'll do...I'm going to use my gift card and buy 5 more gift cards, then I'll have enough for the train table!" She thought this was hilarious- just a glimpse of how my angel boy's mind is always working. In theory, his little idea is brilliant!
Mutton Bustin!
Well, we have officially become rodeo fanatics! We went to our 4th Rodeo last night and loved every minute of it. David has been saying that he wanted to do Mutton Bustin since last year- so, we let him do it! I had such a nervous stomach but it was one of those moments where I had to put my worry aside and just let him experience life for himself! HE WAS AWESOME! It's difficult to tell from the video but he actually came in 2nd place out of 12 kids! Not too bad for a rookie! We even treated him to a real pair of cowboy boots to top off the experience. Donald, Kelsey, Reese and Rynn and Chris, Carrie, Cole and Cade Munnerlyn went with us- it was a true Escondido guys family affair. David had an awesome cheering section and all of the kids loved riding the mechanical bull. What a great Texas Saturday night at the Rodeo!!! (If the video is taking a while to play, simply pause it and let the red line fill up- then play it without interruption)
More summer fun
Sea World....Corry style
We are so glad to have some family nearby again. Donald, Kelsey, Reese and Rynn now live about 45 minutes away from us. We were able to work in a family visit to Sea World last week. We had such a great time and look forward to going again soon! I was blown away that Little David wanted to ride some of the "big" rides with his big cousins. He was so brave and it was a little sad for me to watch my baby without fear, tackle those rides. It was a perfect day!
Summer fun continued....
As promised, here are a few more pics of a few more of our summer activities. David had a blast at Soccer camp and has decided to play in the fall. He also had a great time at swim lessons the last two weeks. I am amazed at how much he has grown since the lessons last year. Grant and I did "mommy and me" swim lessons and she absolutely loved the water and kept trying to put her face in it. I had to be protective of her ears and waited until the last day to fully submerge her- she wasn't the least bit upset and even kicked for more! We are having a great summer! Stay tuned for more pics later....next up- Golf and Tennis camp!
Grandpa Don and Trish's visit
We had a great time with Grandpa Don and Trish when they came out a few weeks ago to visit and help Uncle Donald get all settled in. (I'm a little behind on my postings). We spent one day showing them around San Antonio. We went to the Alamo and did the river boat tour. We had a great family cookout and finished off the visit with a little site seeing and a trip to "Cooper's BBQ"- a local favorite and celebrity/tourist spot for Texas BBQ. I think we may have even converted Grandpa Don from Carolina BBQ to Texas BBQ- or at least he and Trish have a fond appreciation for it now. The guys even had time to squeeze in a little golf- little David already has his eye on "The Corry Cup". We had a great visit and are so glad they came out to Texas!
